FILA Athlete Spotlight: Yaroslava “Slava” Shvedova

With the competitive tennis season in full swing, we've partnered with Fila to give you a candid peak at some of their top athletes, their workouts, and what they’re doing when they’re not owning the courts and competitions this season.

Laurie Mambert, Assistant General ManagerLaurie Mambert brings 30 years of health and fitness industry experience to her position as Assistant General Manager. Ms. Mambert started in the fitness field as a Group Exercise Director of the Smith Club Management Company and eventually became Regional Operations Director for their four premier clubs. Prior to joining Sports Club/LA she was the Regional Director for hotel, corporate, and residential club management with Professional Fitness Management Company. Ms. Mambert holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education/Exercise Physiology with a Master’s Degree in Management.
Rick Fichter, Sales ManagerRick Fichter joined the company in 2008. Prior to Sports Club/LA, he managed several sales teams and served as a corporate sales trainer for the largest network of clubs in the D.C. area. His dedication to fitness originates in his high school years playing football. Once football was over, and without a team sport to rely on, Rick experienced severe weight gain. Fifty-five pounds later, he hit his breaking point, steadily focused on his health and wellness to reverse the trend. It was the success that followed which drives him to share and spread his enthusiasm for fitness today.
David Ridings, Fitness ManagerDave Ridings has been in the fitness industry for the past eight years as a trainer and fitness manager, at several health clubs in the DC area. Dave trained as a gymnast for 15 years culminating at the College of William and Mary where he was the captain of the team as well as a four time All-American gymnast. While at William and Mary Dave also received his B.S. in Kinesiology with a minor in Sociology. Dave is a certified personal trainer thorough the American College of Sports Medicine, as well as a certified massage therapist. Dave’s well rounded background in athletics, training, and successful fitness business, gives him a fantastic grasp on making a five-star team and providing outstanding service. It is Dave’s mission to make our members fit, healthy and to smile and laugh while they are on their way to where they want to be.
Alisha Cole, Spa Manager
Alisha brings a wealth of experience in her role as Spa manager with her knowledge of massage, aesthetics, and business operations. Alisha graduated from the Potomac Massage Training Institute in Washington, DC as a certified Massage Therapist in 2005, and the Aveda Institute in 2007 with certification as an aesthetician. She brings passion and enthusiasm as she has always been a spa and beauty connoisseur. Her previous experience in finance as a financial center operations manager gives her an excellent business acumen. She enjoys traveling to spa’s, indulging in treatments, and creating new spa experiences for our members.
Victor Medina, Operations Manager
Victor brings over 12 years of operations management experience to the fitness industry. He has a passion for bringing people together and developing future leaders. His previous role as a General Manager for a large fitness company on the East Coast has prepared him for success in the best fitness company in the country.
Rachelle Smiley, Spa CoordinatorRachelle has been working in the world of beauty for over eight years and brings her extensive knowledge of the industry to the Spa team at Sports Club/LA. As a former stylist, Rachelle keeps up with the latest trends in both health and beauty to make sure Members and guests receive the best products and treatments a spa can offer. Rachelle graduated from Marymount University with degrees in writing and history and uses her wide array of knowledge to enhance and diversify the spa experience.
Lauren A. (LA) Coe, Executive Assistant
Lauren Ashley, also known as LA around the Club, brings a wealth of knowledge and energy to the Club. With her passion for customer service and providing the best detailed orientated service to our Members, she is a true jack of all trades. A classically trained ballet dancer, softball catcher, event coordinator and now our Executive Assistant, LA is also an active mentor with at risk youth. LA brings over 8 years of administrative, personal assistances and communications skills to the company. LA is currently pursuing a degree in Communication &Marketing at the University of Maryland.
